MSX Fake Videos (Speeding)

A new player, Yu Haojie (China), submitted obvious fake MSX videos. The clock is sped up.

Sadly this is another cheat we have to carefully watch for.

1 Second Games - Review Thread

This threat is to review 1 second games that might be Lucky (no skill). First game is from Andreas Fuchs. He recently made 0.29s on 3BV=3. Is it lucky? (It is also his 3BVs record of 10.34 but does not count for the 3BVs rankings. Unofficial limit for now is 3BV=5 until community decides). Normally ...

Re: Kyle Sub50 NF Games

Showing what I mean about different NF techniques. Screenshots from a Joachim game and Kyle 39 game. White is mouse path with no buttons pressed. Blue path is left button down movement, blue dot is release. You can see Joachim starts pressing the left button down while moving to a new area and relea...

Re: Kyle Sub50 NF Games

Looking at the game style of holding the left button down while looking where to click (which is not the same as Elmar Technique, where you change mouse settings), a new player joined (Joachim, #6511) and he uses this technique. He is slow enough you can understand what is happening. To me this is u...

Harryck Cheat Admission

On 19 August 2016 someone claiming to be Harryck Repse wrote in the Guestbook saying his scores and many others were fake. He said he was many players and their scores were fake: 1) Harryck Repse - Best Latvian - On ranking with 1-12-43. 2) Vazgen Geghamyan - Best Armenian - Not on ranking. (Was on ...

Kyle Sub50 NF Games

Kyle recently scored 40 NF on Expert and has been sending scores to the ranking for several years. When I watch the videos it seems something like Elmar's Technique is being used (opening squares pressing down and also when releasing the button). Is there another explanation? I would appreciate if y...

Re: 2015-10-21: Forum is locked because of too much spam

There was no spam for a week, but it has started again.

I set the forum so users have to verify their emails. This was the original setting, but some users complained they did not get the email.

Problem should be fixed now, thanks for your patience!

Re: Minesweeper Super Challenge

I registered, so hopefully will be selected. Imho, the most awesome version would be if they selected 10 players to co-operatively solve the board with unlimited attempts. It'd be much more exciting for viewers to watch, and give a greater chance of the board being completed. Still waiting to hear w...

Re: Minesweeper Super Challenge

Very interesting. I strongly disagree there should be only 3 attempts. With bad luck or misfortune you could be done in 5 minutes. Definitely discourages speed. There should be no attempt limit, just a time limit. I assume it has normal rules, and there is no code to prevent 50/50 guesses (eliminate...

Hi Tommy, I plan to come. My sweeping skills are terrible, but there is time to practice. Would be great if we all end up staying near the same place, so I wo...

Re: 2015 Minesweeper World Championship in September?

The Chinese community is the most active, and it would be fantastic to have a World Cup in China or even a country tournament. As far as I know, there was a single Chinese tournament in 2007, but it is unlikely many non-Chinese could attend the event. (I am looking for a good excuse to visit, and to...

Re: Is this board solvable?

I feel realy stupid now! You can tell I have only played a few hours this year... The solution is really easy, the 2 touches 3 squares, you know there is only 1 mine in the top 2 squares, so the 3rd is obviously a mine. It is funny the solution is what I would guess every time, because my unconsciou...

Re: Is this board solvable?

I have uploaded a picture showing there are 5 possible solutions, and so the board cannot be solved. You need to guess, but some guesses are more likely than others. To save space, Solutions 3/4/5 are the same except pick a different green square each time. (Check your board, if you forgot to place ...

Re: World Ranking, China Ranking

in speedcubing you get a world ranking as long as you meet the requirements of the competition you attend. this means it is possible to get a world ranking even when you are far away from the world records. Interesting. Btw, that is what the Tournament World ranking does at the moment (anyone who w...

Re: World Ranking, China Ranking

There're one HUGE difference between two sites: Saolei.net accepted everyone who made scores in three levels. Minesweeper.info required for sum100 to join the ranking. Maybe that's why Chinese community is growing faster than the rest of the world. Actually I can't understand why you set a threshol...

It is nice to see more of the Chinese community here. The language barrier has been a big problem, and this is another example. If people have ideas for a solution, please start a new topic - I am very interested in making a better way to share information and scores with the Chinese ranking. Here i...

World Ranking, China Ranking

The World ranking should have 1759 players but it only has 1256. The other players are only on the China ranking. The Chinese community is growing faster than the rest of the world, their website is more advanced, and their community is more active. For several years I have worried about how the lan...

Re: Personal best update

I looked in the database: you have 2.94 - 17.58 - 64.78. Those are the only scores in the database, so something must have gone wrong. When you upload a Time record at info/members you need to enter Time and 3bv. If you do not put a number in both boxes then your video does not upload. (It will give...

I wish I had your programming skills, this is pretty funny. If you find any early copies of Prato Fiorito please zip and upload, I also heard a rumour that some other countries also had a flower version.

To make sure the game is not lost I have uploaded in a Zip.

Re: The Clone must go

I agree with Curtis it is sad to see Clone go. The good news is this month I had 6 or 7 emails with Shen-Jia Zhang (admin of saolei.net) and emails with some of the top Chinese players. They will finally ban Clone 0.97 from their ranking (there was an issue with Clone 2007 that stopped most players ...
