### 3BV of 1 trillion int boards

So after my expert 3bv run, I decided to run the corresponding int batch. This time I also kept track of openings, so I have a 2-dimensional table of data here: http://pastebin.com/raw/fXtWPRRR The highest and lowest 3bv's I found were 7 and 172. I saved all sub 12's and sup 160's. The fewest openin...

### Re: 3BV of 1 trillion exp boards

I didn't use any special algorithm, however I did spend a few days testing and fiddling with my algorithm to get it as quick as I could.

I was able to compute about 1 billion every 20-30 minutes on a relatively powerful desktop, running it on 4 cores. I did it over a few months.

### Re: Minesweeper Super Challenge

Been having a think about this and it's just sinking in how enormous the board is. I think for anyone to have a chance of beating it in under 24 hours, it would have to have a density less than expert. Probably less than beginner density. No way I'd be any good here, even with a lower density. I rem...

I also found an issue with the chording. I will explain what the issue is with me:

If you perform clicks in this order:
L DOWN
R CLICK
R CLICK
L UP

The second R CLICK does not chord, only the first.

### Re: Number of opening formations

Here is the code of my new program. It can handle up to about nx8 now as it doesn't have a huge inefficient matrix which is 0 almost everywhere. I can think of a way to make this program much more efficient and be able to generate the recursion rule table a lot faster, which may be able to get me up...

### Re: Number of opening formations

Just an update. I found out that the method I employed in the last program was flawed, but I've written a new program for the task and it turns out the number of openings is this OEIS sequence: http://oeis.org/A217982 where it has been calculated up to 12x12. I noticed there was something wrong when...

### Number of opening formations

Warning: The contents of this first post is wrong, see later posts. I've been trying to calculate the number of possible opening shapes that can exist on an mxn board. For example on a 3x3 board, there are 16 possibilities i.e. (the positions of the mines are irrelevant, it is the shape of the 0's I...

### Re: Computing 3bv distribution

Good to hear you're interested! I've been playing around a little with my ideas and I'm beginning to conclude that getting up to nx16 boards is a bit difficult. I might at least attempt to reproduce your results for the beginner board by a different method, that would be something at least.

### Computing 3bv distribution

Hi guys I've been absent from the community for a while now, so I just wanted to check if anyone has managed to do calculations to compute the exact number of boards of certain 3bv? I know tjips did this for beginner via brute-force, but I have an idea which I think might be strong enough to handle ...

I can confirm problems with really long videos. I was watching the same 900+s and the video was really jumpy, and the mouse movements on the screen seemed to update roughly every 1s.

### Re: Quasi-empirical estimation of expected board completion rate

I just had a thought of something that we could do. We could try to solve entirely the question of "what is the best strategy for completion?" for very small boards. e.g. 5x5 boards with 5 mines (or 5x5 with 20 mines for something interesting). Where it could solve entirely from any position (either...

### Re: Quasi-empirical estimation of expected board completion rate

have you watched the games? i doubt that any guessing strategy would have won more than 35 games. just have a look at the replays and let me know where you would have clicked elsewhere and why. I haven't -- I'm running on a Linux box, and sorin's recorder/player seems to be built around Windows. Do...

I think for the user it's unimportant. That is providing a square starts off as black or white, then they have all the info they need. Just need a way to encode it in the save-data.

Am I correct in interpreting that there have been 5 real-life tournaments hosted in Russia already this year that I hadn't heard about? If so, advertise them on this forum more frequently, some of us might want a holiday to Russia
