Re: Richard Gebauer
so sure it's a bot? i mean gongor found a way to speed up his clone and msx videos and that would explain all your points except maybe #2 and #3 (how constant is he really - also to me it doesn't look like all clicks are done on the same pixel in each square) It's easy to randomize the press coordi...

Re: Richard Gebauer
99,99% sure it's done using a solving bot. - Inhuman mouse press/release time (watch the smiley face, it hardly does 'ooh' on a click - Constant mouse speed - Constant click speed - Sudden pause at the end of each solved island (not sure why) - Flagging all mines - Always moves too the nearest solva...

Problems with replaying my AVF-files in Clone
Hey, I'm having a problem with Clone 2007. I used to open all my recorded Arbiter vids with Clone by default, but I recently switched to Windows 7 64-bit and now I got troubles replaying my AVF-vids. If I replay my AVF-vids with Clone only about half the vids still work and the rest just doesn't sta...

Ah ok nevermind, I thought it converted it to mvf instead of mbf. My mistake.

Re: New 3bv Limits/New rule for lucky boards?
Result for (Greedy)ZiNi and OBV compared to the other indicators. Once again I've calculated the rareness of the average of all World ranking boards compared to the normal distribution of 1.000.000 random boards with the same indicator. The rarer the boards of the world ranking are, the better the i...

Re: New 3bv Limits/New rule for lucky boards?
I don't think you should underestimate the World Ranking when trying to find out which indicator best describes what are easy boards and which aren't. It's the result of hundreds of players playing hundreds of boards each and isn't effected by any subjective selection on what people find 'extremely ...

Re: New 3bv Limits/New rule for lucky boards?
My Internet broke down yesterday so I had plenty of time to finish it, but off course I couldn't upload it. Anyway, you'll find the 3BVO and HumanZiNi analyzes linked below: http://members.ziggo.nl/ronny_de_winter/3BVO%20and%20HumanZiNi%20on%20trial.pdf I don't have much time now, so I'll post it on...

Re: New 3bv Limits/New rule for lucky boards?
Sorry for not making it before monday. I just installed Windows7 which took some hours and needed to get another Office before I could continue (I was using Office 2000 till now). Anyway, I only have to do a spelling check and finish the conclusions, so hopefully tomorrow.

Re: new benchmark: 3bv for flaggers
In short I've tested the effectiveness of hZini by looking at which algorithm showed the biggest deviation between the normal distribution of random boards and all worlds ranking boards. Could it be that because people flag significantly less and differently than the hZini protocol on Intermediate t...

Re: new benchmark: 3bv for flaggers
Cryslon, maybe you could help with this brain twister about HumanZini that I can't figure out yet: Assuming that my experiments are right, HumanZiNi seems to be a much better indicator on expert level than on intermediate level. Do you have any ideas what's causing this? (It probably has the same re...

Re: New 3bv Limits/New rule for lucky boards?
Don't worry. This little pause in the discussion gives me the required time to finish my experiments to see which indicator can be used best. I've already finished all testings and calculations, but I still need to add the final chapter and conclusions to the report. It should be ready this weekend....

Re: New 3bv Limits/New rule for lucky boards?
Right now I'm focusing more on supplying the statistics, rather than what we should do with it. At the moment I still haven't got proof of which limit and algorithm is best. 3BVO and hZiNi both look nice in theory and seem to work nicely when applied on easy boards of the past, but I'm still haven'...

Re: New 3bv Limits/New rule for lucky boards?
The point I was trying to make with my last post was that I think that we overestimate the effect of leaving the 33 in the rankings while raising the limit for future games. Basically this situation seems much like the situation with Matt McGinleys 10 - and I think that we can raise 3bv limits (ban...

Re: New 3bv Limits/New rule for lucky boards?
Yesterday I've been busy with HumanZini as well. I'll try to use this place as chat (i hope [name removed]and Damien won't ban me). I'm interested in a way you make your research. Have you upgraded zinicalc to make it easy to get info about large number of boards? Do you consider only record boards...

Re: New 3bv Limits/New rule for lucky boards?
Actually there already are 2 rankings being the World ranking and the Decimal World ranking. The decimal ranking already has more strict rules and is already more fare by summing decimals instead of looking at the expert integer value. However, I personally also am in favor of increasing the limit o...

Re: New 3bv Limits/New rule for lucky boards?
I've just noticed that HumanZiNi might not be not such a bad idea if you would only change the initial ZiNi value from 'ZiNi = [number of openings]' to ZiNi = [number of openings]*3 - 2. This way you would merge HumanZini with 3BVO. I'll see if I can run both test, being with the current HumanZini a...

Re: New 3bv Limits/New rule for lucky boards?
@[name removed]: Personally I think ZiNi or HumanZini is to complex to be able to introduce it successfully. I've also run all boards with ZiNi (I don't know about HumanZini) and the results aren't all that different than 3BVO, because the same boards end up in front as well. About not touching the ...

Re: Expert Dreamboard
For me a dreamboard is a random board thats so easy it isn't even allowed as record, like the famous intermediate dream board or possible this insane board of Ian as well, considering the dreamboard of winmine was the easiest of a 65536 boards cycle, while Ian was more like 1 in a million type of bo...

Re: Arbiter development
Aren't there any bytes in the avf files that are ignored by Clone, but can be used as secret CRC field in the new format? That way you can still watch the vids with Clone, but it would also be possible to detect the origin of the vid.

Re: Arbiter development
Cryslon, since you seem to be the lead programmer at the moment of the Arbiter project I think it's best to ask you to implement this idea, if you agree. Because more than one person has received the source code recently it has become very unclear to the public who has it and who hasn't. This could ...

Re: new benchmark: 3bv for flaggers
:D Thanks The way to take path into account is by including rules which operates from the square which was last solved, i.e. "solve the closest pattern to the pattern which was just solved". We also of course need to take into account that when solving you don't really turn around too often (thus y...

Re: IOS: interesting question
In general people never look at the IOS of beginner games, since we it has this 'dividing by zero' problem around board near 1s realtime. Also IOS tends to be in favor of high 3BV board, so I prefer to look at RQP, which seems to result in a more constant average with both high and low 3BV boards.

Re: Icon of Arbiter (updated)
I tried to make them look smaller but on a 3x3 scale it didn't work out. I was either too small or the eyes turned lighter or other stuff that made it look ugly or too different....seems like an X shappe needs (not surprisingly) at least 3x3 pixels. I also tried to reduce the difference in 2 colors ...
