Slack Team

Hi all, On a whim, I created a slack team for this community. It can be found at https://pro-minesweeper.slack.com . On IRC, it's fairly easy to lose track of what's happening - if you log out and don't have a special setup, you lose access to discussions that take place when you aren't there, even ...

Organize one! I think you'd be in a very good position to do so, and I'd be glad to help. :)

Re: Need help

Fun fact: If I had used an old arbiter version to play my 46->42 score, it would have been a last-second blast due to a rilian click: http://www.minesweeper.info/members/files/683/ThomasKolar42,17-159-301007.avf You can see it in action by watching the replay on old arbiter versions. I was pretty sh...

Re: Clients which always give openings

Is it allowed on the leaderboards? If so, again, are there any legal clients which have this option? I'm afraid not - the original Windows Minesweeper (winmine) did not allow this, as it would be quite an advantage. I've only beaten expert 3 or 4 times, all of them on minesweeperonline.com. Are the...

Seems like the fields themselves don't count, ie, the 0 itself can contain a mine?

MSWCH 2016

Hi all, We still don't have plans for the wch 2016! And although 2015 was loads of fun, I won't be organizing the next one for a number of reasons. Apart from the fact that it was quite a bit of work, I feel like it should be somewhere else in-between at least once... So, I'd like to urge all of you...

Re: Minesweeper Ace for Android

Following Tjips' review, I decided to try it mayself, and can agree with that review. One minor ( ) thing: 3bv counting appears to be buggy. See also: Screenshot_2016-03-14-11-00-00.png Also, I remember getting sup1 IOE while playing NF, which could be explained by the same thing. Also: Sorry...

Re: Unplanned scoreganizer downtime

Hi all,

Scoreganizer is down again for reasons I do not know - all I know is that the entire server seems to be gone.

Since I'm only co-admin, all I can do right now is contact the actual owner. I'll keep you posted here once I know more, and would like to apologize for the inconvenience!

Re: Suspected cheaters

you can create pretty much any video if you know the format (and they're both pretty easy to decode and implicitly documented via the source of the converters). The only problem is creating the right checksums, that requires disassembly of the binaries of the clone in question to figure out how it's...

Also, if you want to chat, I can offer gtalk (gmail address), IRC (tkolar), skype (thomaskolar90), or XMPP (tkolar@jabber.metalab.at).

I appear online much more often than I really am on all of these, so if I don't reply immediately, I'll get back later.

Hi all, Sorry for not replying here for a while. I don't have the time for an in-depth reply right now, but I'd like to state a couple of things. Everything in this list is my personal opinion. Rules should apply to everyone equally, without exceptions for contributions to the community. The rules i...

Re: Scoreganizer development

lh posted this in the Guestbook: @Tommy Hi Tkolar, is it possible for our normal users in Scoreganizer to create a tournament ranked by summing over top x,y,z 3bv/s instead of top x,y,z time for Beg, Int, Exp games? I think it is a bit boring to take only sum time for the consideration of those acti...

Re: PSA: Scoreganizer server maintenance tonight

I have a problem that if I solve a game before the competition ends, and after that when I check the high score I find it's not successfully uploaded because of connection problem, I can't restart my client and then make my game uploaded since the competition is already finished. This often happens...

PSA: Scoreganizer server maintenance tonight

Hi everyone, Martin Prebio (bountin) and I will upgrade server infrastructure tonight, meaning that there might be some small uptime hiccups. They shouldn't take too long, though, and everything should work as before soon. Nonetheless, if there are any problems that don't go away within 30 minutes, ...

There're two topics here. Topic 1: legal mechanic It's legal to use leopard since it can be regard as a mouse with various buttons but could not move. It's not legal to map one user action to more than one game action. Jin-Yang Guo and I agree with these two. It's not legal if a clone maps one user...

Which game mechanics should be legal?

Hi, there was a discussion on the GB recently regarding legality of using the keyboard to chord. It started as a discussion about removing cheaters from the ranking, and someone posted something about Dan Zhou doing this. There have been discussions about this before that weren't conclusive, but it ...
