Overview
Minesweeper X was written in 2003 for Windows by Curtis Bright.

Minesweeper X is the most accurate clone of the original Windows Minesweeper game. The original versions (0.01 to 0.34) added various cheat options but in 2004 Bright rewrote the game to be a perfect clone with the addition of decimal times, video recording, a statistics file, larger custom boards, custom skins and a better random number generator to create boards. Videos made with this game can be submitted to the Authoritative Minesweeper world rankings.

MSX is the only clone that perfectly copies the original Windows Minesweeper mouse behaviour and the exact method in which cells open when you click them. It also perfectly copies the Windows monochrome and colour graphics for Windows 3.1, 98 and XP.

In addition to being able to create your own skins, the main feature of MSX is custom boards. The original Windows Minesweeper game is limited to 30*24 with a maximum density of (x-1)(y-1) mines but MSX allows more than 99% density and can record videos with more than 10,000 mines and practically unlimited board sizes.
