The object is to save two 'victims' from a minefield. However, the mines increase in number each time you move and you must watch where you are moving else you will be blown up! There is a time limit of one minute (this can easily be changed) at the end of which you will be destroyed unless you have rescued both victims.
The game uses the full 80*25 screen and you can choose how many mines per second are added.
The game was published in June 1979 with several bugs. A reader wrote into Practical Computing in September 1979 with bug fixes.
The following attributes can be used to map the evolution of Minesweeper. Blue cells are confirmed attributes for official versions of Minefield. Yellow cells are unknown.
