The game was first sold by his company Andrews Computing on a cassette tape in June 1979 for £4.50 and reduced to £3.45 by January 1980. The cassette included the machine code listing and you could purchase either the B-Bug or Nasbug T4 versions (different types of terminal monitors). Advertisements mention a "Minefield Game" but do not provide a description.
The game was sold only for the "minimum Nascom-1" machine. The buyer had to build the entire computer from parts!
Andrews operated the company from his house. All programs were typed in hexadecimal machine code with the first few games were for the Nascom-1 then the Nascom-2. The last mention of Minefield was June 1980 and the last advertisement in October 1980 included some Nascom programs but focused on the TRS-80. It listed a "GAMES tape No. 7" with 33 programs for £7.50 and this may have included a TRS-80 version of Minefield.
The following attributes can be used to map the evolution of Minesweeper. Blue cells are confirmed attributes for official versions of Minefield. Yellow cells are unknown.
