In Landmine the player must traverse a 10 by 10 field of possible mine locations, from top left to bottom right. The program sets up an almost too easy first two or three attempts but the machine is programmed to place the mines randomly increasing the numbers of mines by 2 each time. Rapidly the player is faced with the near impossible task of negotiating 48, 50 and more mines. The program does offer the player a little help, in that it issues a warning whenever the player is one and/or two moves away from being blown to smithereens.
The description above is from the original 1984 version by Richard Franklin in his book CBM 64 Programs Volume 1. This cloned version was published by Robtek on Volume 2 (Game 11) on their Kingsize compilation of 100 games sold on cassette for £12.95.
The game counts mines diagonally and lets you move diagonally. Win or lose Landmine will keep generating new levels until you quit.
This game is an English translation of the Dutch game Landmijn by Courbois Software. The only modification was adding some heart graphics. However, the game is ultimately a clone of the 1984 Landmine game by Richard Franklin from his book CBM 64 Programs Volume 1.
