Global Minesweeper
Global Mines was written for Windows in 1998 by Stefan Pettersson.
Global Mines is a new clone of the classic Minesweeper game which usually is included in Windows. However, the most important addition to Global Mines compared to the Microsoft Minesweeper is that Global Mines features the Global Hall of Fame. You can play and compete with people all over the internet!
The original online ranking was abandoned due to cheaters but a new version was released in 2002 after seeing "Project Minesweeper Utopia", which aimed to create a replacement for Windows Minesweeper for the Authoritative Minesweeper world rankings.
The final version has the same 3 difficulty levels as Windows Minesweeper and the ability to upload scores and screenshots to an online ranking. Timer starts from 0.00 and the game saves your best 100 scores for each level with statistics. Statistics like 3BV, left clicks, right clicks, chords and clicks per second can be saved to a text file. You can also save screenshots of games. Global Mines has skins (including Windows 3.1 and 98), improved board randomness and several layers of encryption.
Global Mines was originally Shareware for $7 later $9.90.
