Automine - Game Overview

Automine was written for RISC OS in 1995 by A. J. Holdsworth.

Automine has the same three levels as Windows Minesweeper (8x8 with 10 mines, 16x16 with 40 mines, 30x16 with 99 mines) as well as a "Psychic" level that is 8x8 with 16 mines. Your best Highscore is saved for each level and you can also play custom games.

You can flag and use optional questionamarks. Unlike all other RISC OS versions, Automine chords the same way as Windows Minesweeper (left and right buttons) but you can lose if you chord and flags have not been placed. You have options to make the corners always safe and there is an option not to "auto clear" (automatically open openings). There is an Automine skin and a Windows skin with both small and large cells and there are two display modes. Other features are starting games by clicking anywhere on the grid, the ability to pause the game and a "Hint" feature that will show you a safe cell to open. You win either by playing NF (opening all safe cells) or by flagging all mines while opening all cells.

Version 1.59 was published by Acorn User magazine in April 1998.
