Hex Mines for Windows - Game Overview

Hex Mines for Windows was written in 1998 by Antony Pranata.

Hex Mines is an improvement of the classic Minesweeper game. There are six board variations and five different levels in Hex Mines. It means that you have 30 different games to play! Additional features: sound effect, MIDI music, customizable skin, shield to prevent you accidentally uncover a mine, and many more.

The final version of Hex Mines has 6 skins and 5 difficulty levels for 30 combinations. However, the colours chosen make playing some patterns almost unplayable and there is no chording. The Highscore list saves your best score per level and the game is Shareware for $10, with the Demo restricted to the easiest two levels and coming with a "nag" screen.

The author published 16bit and 32bit versions for each release but unfortunately only the original 32bit Version 4.01 exists and a later minor revision of 4.01 (labelled 4.1 on the website).
