MineSweeper was written in 1992 for OS/2 by Bill Warner based on code by Al Liss.
The original game has three grids (10x10, 15x15, 20x20) with three density modes (Low, Medium, High). You are awarded points based on density and opened squares with the Highscore list saving your best 10 scores. The timer starts immediately and there is no chording. The game has amusing alerts such as "I am prepared to die" and "I recognise the author's genius".
Later versions added chording (both mouse buttons or a left click) with the timer starting on the first click. The Highscore list was expanded to save your best 15 times (not scores) for each level. Density modes were removed and replaced with 10, 38 and 76 mines and an option was introduced to use larger graphics for the squares.
Versions 2.x and later require OS/2 Warp 3.
