Minesweeper 2000 was written for Windows in 2000 by Marin Bonacci and Ante Smolčić.
The game has the same 3 difficulty levels (Beginner, Intermediate, Expert) as Windows Minesweeper. Custom allows unlimited mines and the grid size is limited only by your screen resolution. Minesweeper 2000 lets you log into the game so there is a separate Highscore list for each player. You can import and export your Highscores with your best 10 scores for each level. The game automatically saves screenshots of your best games.
Minesweeper 2000 guarantees that every game is winnable. When you lose it tells you where you should have clicked. When there is a 50/50 guess it moves the mine.
Other options include openings on the first click and error correction. Error correction prevents you clicking down onto a square and accidentally releasing the mouse button on a different square. Another feature is a Boss icon which replaces the default icon when you minimise the game. You can also create your own skins and the game comes with a DOOM skin. The authors maintained a Best 100 list on their website using submitted Highscore screenshots.
There is a minor bug where the timer does not stop when you win a Custom game with only one safe square.
