The 4th World Minesweeper Championship took place 28 July 2006 at the University of Vienna in Room 204 of the Faculty of Mathematics. The competition was organised for the second time by Christoph who wrote "Vienna Minesweeper" for the tournament. Viennasweeper could be centrally controlled across a network with the program unlocked at the start of a session and locked at the end of a session. The program had several tournament modes and recorded all completed games. A 30min Beginner session started at 09:00 and consisted of 8 rounds of first to win 10 games (won by Damien). The 90min Intermediate session started at 09:45 with the winner having the lowest sum of 5 Intermediate games (Manuel) and the 90min Expert session started at 11:30 with the winner having the lowest sum of 5 Expert games (Damien). The final 60min session started at 13:45 allowing players to improve both Intermediate or Expert scores with the winner having the best sum of 6 Intermediate and 6 Expert game (Manuel). The Minesweeper ceremony took place at 15:00 followed by a Nonosweeper tournament which finished at 18:00.
Damien wrote a detailed review which includes full results for each session and an overview of the weekend.
The tournament announcement and results of the Minesweeper sessions can be found on Christoph's archived website.
